So this is happening: Fashion designer Derek Lam and Estée Lauder have partnered up to launch a new makeup line in January 2014. Lam and Estée Lauder’s creative director Tom Pecheux, who has served as the makeup artist in Lam’s runway shows, have collaborated to develop a five products in the collection, including a navy blue eyeliner called “Kajal Crayon in Near Night”; “The Mascara in Black Black,” a jet black mascara; “The EyeShadow in Smoked Gold”; “The LipColor in Smoked Blush”; and “The Gloss in Barely Gold.”
And judging by the spring 2014 makeup trends, many designers have gone for the smoked, glittery eyes and bold lips, which seem to be in line with what Lam and Pecheux have conceived for this collection. The best part is that all items in the collection come with a navy Derek Lam clutch. Lam told Women’s Wear Daily in an interview that he wanted to develop a ready-to-wear makeup collection and that he was inspired to translate what he saw in fabrics and textures to cosmetics. Swoon.
