Our photo editor Mandy had the opportunity to stop by Nicola’s last week, where Uniqlo and Nicola Formichetti presented their new line. Widely known as Lady Gaga’s stylist and the creative director of Mugler, Formichetti, who is half Italian and half Japanese and often called “Nico Panda” by friends and fans since he resembles an Asian bear, collaborated with Uniqlo as thestyle director for its latest collection, the Innovation Project.
As for the inspiration and process behind styling the collection, Formichetti wanted to focus on functionality and the technical aspects of the clothes by developing fabric that was comfortable, simple and technological. It wasn’t about style or a new silhouette, rather he wanted the collection to be the base for our future to design from.

At the event, we also spotted a striking blonde asian girl, who was so effortlessly cool and confident in her style. Though we didn’t get the chance to catch the details of her outfit, her photo is inspiring enough.

Check out photos from the event below, which include photos of the Uniqlo’s Innovation Project and photos of Nicola’s store and his own designs.
