Summer months, for me at least, means more finicky skin and fewer ways to fix it. But luckily, summer also means a little bit more time to play around with some fun DIY at-home skincare masks. In addition to our previous natural facial mask suggestions, which include creating masks from yogurt, cucumber, green tea, tomato or banana, try these restorative facial masks that will help you stay fresh and moisturized throughout the summer heat.
Moisturizing Mask: Avocado and Olive Oil

Avocado is loaded with tons of healthy fats and oils, and is extremely moisturizing for the skin. Just mash one up, add a few drops of optional olive oil for added moisture, and smear it all over your face. Leave it on until the mask starts to dry, then towel off. You may want to use face wash afterward to get the excess oil off and avoid potential breakouts.

Calming Mask: Oatmeal and Honey

This mask is super easy and soothing for irritated, itchy or sunburnt skin. Take some instant oatmeal, and add a little bit of hot water to make it a thick paste. Add honey, which is antibacterial and will help cleanse the face, for some added moisture. To complete the feel of breakfast on your face, you can add cinnamon, though there are no known skin benefits.

Pore-Tightening Mask: Egg

This lovely two-part mask is used for both your skin and your hair. Crack open a raw egg and separate the egg white from yolk. Spread the white on your skin and let it dry and tighten up. This mask will help cleanse excess oil from your face and tighten your pores. Spread the egg yolk onto the tips of damp hair as a moisturizing deep conditioner. Just be sure to rinse it out with cold water—you don’t want the cooked egg smell to linger in your shower.
