If you learned how to rave from MTV’s “Jersey Shore,” you might want to do a little research before attempting to dance to the newest from electronic mastermind DJ Steve Aoki. Don’t even try going Guido on this stuff—it’s light years ahead of the wannabe rave scene.
Aoki, also known as DJ Kid Millionaire, recently said to MTV that his upcoming album will feature electronic dance remixes of Weezer, Kid Cudi and Lil Jon, among other familiar voices. Tracks will be mash-ups of hip-hop, rock and house vocals.
“It should be interesting,” said Aoki, who is also working on his own record label, Dim Mak and producing music. He is also a member of the band Rifoki and recently landed a resident DJ gig at Surrender nightclub in Las Vegas.
Working with popular hip-hop artists and the like isn’t new for Aoki. He’s mixed Kid Cudi, MGMT and Ratatat in “Pursuit of Happiness” and played with the likes of Bloc Party, Good Charlotte and All-American Rejects.
On his MySpace page are remixes of Weezer, Kid Cudi and Drake, among others. Add shoulder-length hair, a wicked moustache and pals such as Lindsay Lohan and Fiona Xie — the result is a quirky artist who produces fresh music.
It looks like these tracks will be in his new album, and are a pretty good-looking sample of what’s to come. Time to get your dance on. [via MTV]
