Just in time for college applications, Angry Asian Man and Asian Pacific Americans for Progress will be featuring on their websites the top ten list of the “Best Colleges and Universities for AAPI Student Activism” starting today, for the next two weeks. Volunteer judges chose these colleges from online nominations sent from participants who expressed why their college deserves a place on the list.
Besides a college’s academic prowess, the strength and characteristic of its community ultimately determine your college experience. These college features will be a great resource for high school applicants to get a sense of opportunities available for Asian American Pacific Islanders across various colleges.
The first featured college is Dartmouth College in New Hampshire. It looks like they have great AAPI initiatives including their First Generation College Network and their AAPI activist project to mentor local transracially adopted Asian children. And interestingly enough, Dartmouth’s president is a Korean American, Dr. Jim Yong Kim. Click here to read more about why Dartmouth made the list.
Mochi readers, does the level of a college’s AAPI student activism affect your decision to attend the school? Do you think your college should make the list?
