It’s a known fact that food brings people together, especially in Asian cultures. So why not make a food festival out of it? Well that’s exactly what Asian food industry veteran Wendy Chan did. Through her love for food and Asian culture in Queens, NY, Chan, who is the founder and principal of Definity Marketing, formed “Asian Feastival,” a one-day culinary event celebrating Asian cuisine. The festival will take place on September 6 from 12 to 5 p.m at the Sheraton Laguardia East Hotel. A sel.ection of participating local Asian restaurants will feature their most popular dishes. There will be a panel discussion from renowned foodies, including pastry chef Pichet Ong of Spot, Eddie Huang of Baohaus, “Top Chef” season one alum Lee Anne Wong and Akiko Katayama, judge on “Iron Chef America.” Additionally, the program will hold cooking demonstrations of foods including Japanese Okonomiyaki, Kimchi, hand-pulled noodles, panel discussions, cookbook signings, an Asian Farmer’s Market with culinary experts to teach people about how to use Asian produce, and even a food bike tour starting from Flushing Meadows Park in Queens.
