No girl’s makeup kit is complete without the requisite mascara and eyeliner to really make eyes pop. Mochi staffers share their tried-and-true products to make shopping for makeup a little bit easier for you.
Laurie Sartain, sales representative, recommends Revlon Colorstay Eyeliner because “it stays on without smudging or fading, which is pretty much everything I could ask for in an eyeliner.” Her favorite color is vixen – a deep plum-purple.
For Noel Duan, fashion features editor, the Dior Crayon Eyeliner, waterproof in Trinidad Black, is a worthy investment. “I have to wear black eyeliner everyday but I hate having ‘panda eyes.’ With this eyeliner, I’ve never had a problem with that.”
Our fashion/beauty staffer, Eunice Roh, who would rather have smoky eyes, picks benefit BADgal Liner, because “it’s thick and smudges easily, which some people dislike but I personally love.“
Liquid eyeliners are still preferable over pencil for other members of the staff. Jennifer Kung, blog managing editor, is in love with ALMAY Liquid Liner. “My friend told me this eyeliner is amazing, so I tried it and it really is. Its tip is so thin and fine, so it’s really easy to apply a straight, even line on the lid. It also comes out a lot darker than a pencil would, which makes your eyes look larger and more refined.”
Stephanie Wu, editor-in-chief, recommends shu uemera Liquid Eyeliner, because “its tip is so thin and easy to control.” For mascara, she prefers Imju Fiberwig Mascara, a Japanese mascara that lengthens even the shortest lashes with its microfibers, giving you the look of fake lashes without the hassle.
Eunice Roh, on the other hand, still trusts the classic Great Lash Washable Mascara by Maybelline, which never fails to make her lashes appear “a lot whole thicker.”
Our senior marketing representative, Gina Lin, goes for the glam with DiorShow Iconic Mascara, which “gives great length and volume without any clumps.” With this mascara, you don’t even need to waste your time on falsies.
