Rodarte’s distinctively talented Mulleavy sisters—Kate and Laura—plus the international superstar, actress and fashion icon, Maggie Cheung, equals a brilliant collaboration of two artistic powerhouses from the East and the West. Last week at Joyce in Hong Kong, the Mulleavys showcased a special four-piece collection that was inspired by Maggie Cheung’s films: “In the Mood for Love,” “Hero,” “The Heroic Trio,” and “Clean.” Though the one-off pieces were auctioned off to benefit UNICEF, you can watch a short film directed by Wing Shya, which spotlights the collection here.
As WWD reports: “It’s our first time here and I’m in complete awe of Hong Kong,” said Laura Mulleavy. “There’s something so futuristic about the city. You’d be forgiven for thinking that Blade Runner was shot here. And the women are so open to fashion.”

Hopefully this means we might get to see a Hong Kong-inspired collection for Rodarte’s spring/summer 2011 collection!
