The last time I blogged about an Asian girl group was when I attended the Wondergirls’ Wonder World Tour in Anaheim, California. That was over a year ago, so I was particularly excited to hear about a new global Asian girl group, Blush, that made their debut with the single “Undivided” featuring Snoop Dogg. The group consists of five girls: Angeli Flores (Philippines), Victoria Chan (China), Alish Budhrani (India), Natsuko Danjo (Japan) and Lee Jihae (South Korea).
They are gearing for an international launch, as every member covers a different Asian music market. But they will primarily be an English language group. Their intention is to release remixed albums later in their respective languages once they gain popularity. They got recognition in Asia by opening for Justin Bieber in Hong Kong last month. The Wonder Girls gained more fame once they opened for the Jonas Brothers, so maybe if Blush opens for Justin Bieber sometime later in the States, they can gain a similar fan base and rocket their way to fame.
For their single “Undivided,” Blush released a teaser music video created by animator Shawn Harris solely using the Brushes iPad app by Taptrix. It’s a creative and interesting video to watch. Personally, I’m not a huge fan of the single’s beat and melody—it’s a bit too electronic for my taste. I must admit though, after listening to it for the third time this morning, I found myself humming the chorus on my way to class. The lyrics are catchy and will get stuck in your head. And given pop music today, that’s the first step to stardom!
