The CW's 'Nikita' a New Fall Favorite

When my summer ended, I was deprived of my weekly fixes of crime-fighting action: “Burn Notice” and “Covert Affairs.” But then I discovered the new CW series, Nikita, starring Maggie Q, which began airing Sept. 9 on the CW—and that’s when I found my new fall season favorite. When you start watching “Nikita,” you notice two very Hollywood-tastic features of Maggie Q – she looks amazing in a bikini and has a swagger that dominates the TV screen. If you’re looking for an explosive complement to your weekly TV routine, “Nikita” will deliver, with fight and gunshot scenes highlighting the perfect physique of the action star, who’s been reported to perform all her own stunts.

This TV show remake of the 1990 French film “La Femme Nikita” picks up where the others left off, describing what happens to Nikita after she’s escaped from the agency. It also introduces twists in the original storyline, one of which involves co-star Lyndsy Fonseca (“Desperate Housewives,” “How I Met Your Mother”) as Alex, a spy-among-spies, planted by Nikita within the agency to help bring down Division.

Sounds like typical spy-gone-rogue story right? Sure the general plot may not seem overexciting, at least not at first glance, but when you start watching, you just can’t stop. The actors can seem a little stoic at times but then you realize it only adds to the mystery and suspense behind the plotline. And then there’s the action—in communication with Alex, Nikita’s self-proclaimed alias is “Jane Bond,” and it fits her persona. If you’re ready to watch some serious ass-kicking by stunning women, don’t miss this on Thursdays! You can catch up on old episodes here, and watch the series Thursdays on The CW at 9/8c.
