Rising Star: Liu Wen
With killer cheekbones, flawless skin and adorable dimples that rival those of Miranda Kerr, it's no wonder Liu Wen is hailed as a rising star in the modeling world. From humble beginnings as a tour guide in her hometown of Yongzhou, a province of Hunan, China, Liu Wen's modeling career began when she entered the New Silk Road World Model Contest in the summer of 2005. Although she didn't win the contest, prominent figures within the industry noticed her striking looks and willowy frame. Within less than two years of launching her career, she began to make a name for herself, nabbing the covers of Chinese FHM and Chinese Marie Claire, as well as appearing in several editorial spreads for Chinese Vogue, Cosmopolitan and Harper's Bazaar. In 2008, Parisian modeling agency Marilyn took Wen under management and almost immediately, she was strutting down the catwalk in Milan, Paris and New York, wearing couture designs from Chanel, Hermes and Burberry, to name a few.
After closing the fall Trussardi show in February 2008, Wen was seen all over the runway, and Style.com named her one of the top ten new faces to watch. As a fresh face, Wen signed a contract with Calvin Klein's fragrance One, and has been featured in countless editorial spreads, the latest of which can be seen in the March 2009 issue of Teen Vogue. Liu has been quoted as saying, "I will shoot [model] as long as I can," and though fortune has been good to her, it doesn't seem like this beauty is stepping away from the spotlight anytime soon.
