'Pyramid' Singer Charice Pempengco to Shake Things Up On the 'Glee' Stage
For the second half of season one, I couldn't help but feel Glee has been missing something. Sure, Idina Menzel and Kristin Chenoweth brought star power, and the singing, particularly Lea Michele’s, is undoubtedly phenomenal. But the plot has lacked the sparkle of earlier episodes, and songs (where did the mash-ups go?) have similarly been lackluster. Season two promises to be different, with Filipina singer Charice joining the Glee cast as an exchange student. Earlier in June, it was rumored that Charice would join the Fox show, but she denied the rumors. On Monday, she confirmed the news via Twitter. The young singer will be an exchange student whose singing skills lead to head-to-head competition with Lea's character, Rachel Berry.
Charice will not only add to an already diverse cast, but the introduction of her character could create some great plot twists as well. May we suggest "Pyramid" as a duet by Charice and Mike Chang? Photo via blogs.glam.com
