Opening Ceremony's Humberto Leon and Carol Lim Are Kenzo's New Creative Directors

Opening Ceremony's co-founders Humberto Leon and Carol Lim have been named the creative directors of LVMH's Parisian brand, Kenzo, with a multi-year contract, and the duo is already busy in Paris preparing for their first collection at Paris Fashion Week in October. Leon and Lim are interesting picks since they are retail owners with no training in design, but their business savvy and creative overseeing of Opening Ceremony and its in-house line exemplifies their multi-faceted strengths. Pierre-Yves Roussel, chairman and CEO of LVMH's fashion division expressed how he was impressed by their “360-degree vision of the fashion industry."

We vividly recall hearing Leon and Lim speak on Columbia University's "Asian Americans in Fashion Panel" last April, and were so impressed by their career stories (Lim studied economics and worked in investment banking for five years before moving into fashion), and continual growing influence in the industry. Congrats to Leon and Lim for their new roles and we can't wait to see their first line for Kenzo this fall.
