One-Dollar Beauty Steals

In the luxurious world of high-end beauty products, a single lipstick can costs up to $30 (Hello, new Dior Addict lipstick!). But you’d be surprised by how far a buck can go with inexpensive drugstore makeup. You can easily find quality beauty products, like lipsticks, eyeliners, and nail polish, for just a dollar. Here is a round-up of my favorite one-dollar cosmetics that will give you the look you want without breaking your wallet.

New York Color Long Wearing Enamel in Big Apple Red

New York Color (N.Y.C) is known for being one of the cheapest brands that occasionally cranks out beauty winners and is available at almost every drugstore, including Walmart and Target. The star of their entire brand is the crème nail polishes. Their glitter and metallic polishes are mostly mediocre and can look cheap, but Big Apple Red can pass for salon-brand product. The application is smooth with no streaks or bumps and the color is to die for. Two coats will get you a gorgeous deep red that rivals some of my pricier OPI favorites.

Eyes Lips Face Custom Eyes eye shadow in Sage

For a dollar, you can get this highly pigmented olive green shade; it’s interesting mixture of green and gold undertones is very flattering on Asian skin. This is a powder eye shadow that’s meant to be a part of their customizable palettes but it is sold individually. You can apply it with an E.L.F eyeshadow brush (also only a dollar and of superior quality).

Wet N Wild Silk Finish lipstick in Cherry Frost (514A)

Most reds look terrifying on my yellow-toned skin, but this one-dollar drugstore lipstick is the best red I’ve tried so far. It’s pigmented and smooth and can last through a meal with only minor touch-ups needed. Be sure to use lip liner to keep the lipstick from bleeding. This is a great red lipstick to go with simple winged eyes and false dramatic lashes.

Sally Girl Cosmetics (the whole line!)

Every item of the Sally Girl makeup line is only $1! The cosmetics are unique because they are pint sized—lipsticks and nail polishes are about one-third the size of standard products, which makes them good for times when you want to experiment with daring colors. Their blush and face shimmer products are sheer and not very pigmented, but the customizable Eye shadow Connection Compacts are decently sized and well worth a shot (or two).
