NYFW Farah Angsana S/S 2011: A Journey Into the Indonesian Designer’s Roots

Farah Angsana delivered yet another glamorous collection for spring/summer 2011. The Indonesian designer drew inspiration from her homeland, capturing the beauty and mystery of Southeast Asia.

Watching the collection, we were taken on an odyssey, exploring the wilds of Indonesian Borneo. The journey also incorporated the spirit of Java, the heartland of the Indonesian nation and home to the folklore and mysticism of the country’s largest ethnic group.

Time-honored textile traditions are showcased in Farah’s intricate embroidery and couture details. Swarovski crystals, metal chains, gold metal beads, metal sequins and lace appliqués adorned many pieces in the collection.

“I am proud and honored to be able to take people on this journey to show them my country and its great diversity. For me, it’s an exploration that continues,” said Farah Angsana, in a press release from the show.
