Jeremy Lin Signs With Golden State Warriors

Cementing himself as a rising star among not only the Asian American community but within the basketball and sports world at large, Harvard’s talented Jeremy Lin has officially signed with the Golden State Warriors. He is the first Asian American player to play for the Warriors since 1947.
In his response, Lin said, "I consider myself a basketball player more than an Asian American... I'm ready to play at this level and I appreciate the support of the Asian community. This is a dream come true. I always wanted to be in the NBA and now I get to do it with the Warriors, the team I grew up watching."

While at Harvard, Jeremy was the first player in Ivy League history to accumulate 1,450 points, 450 rebounds, 400 assists, and 200 steals throughout his college career. Due to his remarkable college success, many saw him as a favorite in the NBA draft. Now, the hopes of Jeremy’s fans have come into fruition and the modest, talented player from Palo Alto gets to pursue hoop dreams of his own. “I understand there are not many Asians in the NBA and there are not many Ivy Leaguers in the NBA,” Lin said, acknowledging the barriers that stood in his way. “Maybe I can help break the stereotype.” Well Jeremy, it looks like you already did. Congratulations, and best of luck in the upcoming NBA season! [via ESPN]
