'Glee' Auditions Reopened, After an Astounding 28,000 Submission Videos
In an earlier post, we mentioned the nationwide "Glee" casting call for new members. Over the past month, the response from hopeful contestants has been overwhelming—according to Mashable.com, almost 28,000 people have posted audition videos on MySpace to date. Due to this incredible reaction from aspiring "Glee" cast members, MySpace has opted to reopen auditions (the deadline was originally yesterday, April 26), from Wednesday, April 28 to Thursday, April 29. Within my own circle of friends, I know about four people from my high school and college who are trying out for "Glee." I was both surprised and excited when I received a Facebook invite to a friend's “Vote for Me on Glee!” group, and I happily voted multiple times. However, after I received my third and fourth Facebook invite from different people, I couldn’t help but start to feel a bit cynical. With tens of thousands of hopefuls across the nation posting their audition videos, would those with true talent really stand out, or would they get drowned out by others with a lot of MySpace buddies, but not necessarily a lot of talent?
Regardless, I wish the best of luck to all of the "Glee" hopefuls out there—for many, this would undoubtedly be a dream come true. Also, Mochi readers and "Glee" fans, don’t forget to enter our contest to win an autographed photo of Harry Shum, Jr by May 2, 2010.
Also, remember Sam Tsui, the YouTube star attending Yale University? Well, turns out he’s auditioning for Glee as well! Watch his audition video here:
