F/W 2010: Carlos Miele Takes Us to the Tropics

P2150093During the final week of New York Fashion Week, Carlos Miele took us to the beaches of Brazil and back. With tunes by Jorge Ben serving as the soundtrack to colorful prints and patterns, we were awoken and refreshed by the Brazilian flavor of Miele’s fall collection. Geometric prints in tropical colors came out in body-hugging silhouettes. Crinkled fabrics added texture in contrast to the smoother lines that dominated the collection. Fine furs also made their way into a few looks, reminding us that these beautifully tropical styles will still hold up in the cooler temperatures.

Low-cut backs were a signature of all of the dresses, which added a seductive but classy note to the look. Like many other designers showing at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week, Carlos Miele incorporated silk satins into his collection, notably a flowing, sapphire blue one-shoulder dress. Our favorite look of the collection was hands-down the final look: a strapless charmeuse gown with multi-color panels.
