Boston University Presents Asian American Talent Showcase, 'Take Out'

Boston University’s Chinese Student Association will be hosting a concert, "Take Out," showcasing Asian American artistic talent at its best on Friday March 4, at 7 p.m. in Metcalf Hall. Featured artists include YouTube stars David Choi and Clara Chung as well as the popular faces behind Wong Fu Productions. Janice Yan, the winner of Taiwan's singing contest, "One Million Star - Star Legend," will also perform, along with Magnetic North and Taiyo Na. The theme has nothing to do with Chinese fast food and instead acknowledges the restrictions and challenges facing Asian Americans in the entertainment industry today. Though Asian faces are slowly making their way onto big and small screens, there's still an apparent void of Asian American presence. BU’s CSA hopes to “take out” and erase those fears and doubts that hinder today’s Asian Americans from reaching their full creative potential by introducing them to an entire lineup of popular Asian faces and up-and-coming artists. A portion of the proceeds will go to Goodwill, an organization that runs various programs, such as the GoodGuides Youth Mentoring program and the Fresh Air Camp, to help adolescents find guidance, friendship and support no matter where they’re from.
