'American Idol': Andrew Garcia's Idol Run Ends, But Wedding Bells Ahead?

The idol journey of one of our favorite contestants from the start, Andrew Garcia, came to a disappointing end this past Wednesday. Andrew, along with 17-year-old Katie Stevens, were both voted off this week due to the judges using their one and only save on fellow contestant Michael Lynch during the previous week. Sadly, Andrew's dismissal does not come as a huge surprise, especially following his string of mediocre post-Hollywood performances. Despite his recent fallbacks,  it's hard to forget his brilliant early season covers of Maroon 5's "Sunday Morning" or Paula Abdul's "Straight Up." From the moment Andrew walked into his first audition, viewers across the country fell in love with his clearly talented voice, ingenious song arrangements and undeniable passion for music.

Perhaps Andrew was never meant to perform on a glamorous studio stage. Instead, I can see him wowing audiences in an intimate setting better suited to his laid-back singing style. Regardless, we wish Andrew the best of luck in the future — and if anything, American Idol was an amazing platform for him to further his music career and reach new heights. Speaking of what's next for Andrew, things are looking rosy—he wants to propose to his girlfriend!

"I’m still going to propose to her, but I don’t know when. I am for sure going to marry her," he said in a People Magazine interview. We wish Andrew the best of luck in both his career and romantic endeavors—keep an eye out for him this summer on the American Idol tour!
