For this week’s American Idol Top 24 show, make sure to check out two very talented and promising contestants: John Park and Andrew Garcia.
Korean American John Park, who has already captured our hearts and charmed Shania Twain during the first round of auditions, has made it into the Top 24, making him one of the few Asian Americans to do so. Although he was given a disappointingly short amount of screen time during the Hollywood rounds (probably due to the fact that he didn’t have a dramatic back story, like a foster childhood, diseased relative or wife giving birth), we’re looking forward to seeing him more this week as he performs on stage.
Also making it through to the Top 24 is Andrew Garcia, a mega-talented musician hailing from Moreno Valley, Calif.
Garcia, who has Filipino roots, already had a loyal YouTube fan base prior to his American Idol breakthrough. Known for flavoring his songs with unique arrangements, killer vocals and adept guitar skills, he won me over with his rendition of Maroon 5’s “Sunday Morning” during the first round of auditions. He also made a strong enough impression on the judges in Hollywood, thereby grabbing a coveted Top 24 slot. To visit Andrew’s YouTube page, click here.
Make sure to tune in this Wednesday at 8 p.m. Eastern/7 p.m. Central on FOX, where these two (and the other 10 males) will be performing for America’s votes for the first time!
