Mochi is always looking for editors, writers, designers, marketing representatives and more. All positions require a minimum one-year commitment and are unpaid, but are great for resume-building, clips, networking and hands-on experience. All applications will be reviewed by Mochi, and selected applicants will be invited to interview with a Mochi representative. Successful candidates will subsequently be invited to undergo a one-month training and trial period prior to starting their full-time role. All applications should be sent to join@mochimag.com.
Open editorial positions:
West Coast Editor [description and requirements]
Mochi Magazine is seeking a west coast editor, ideally based in Los Angeles, to represent the magazine at press events, interview celebrities, and keep a pulse on the Asian American entertainment scene.
Requirements:
Must be obsessed with pop culture and news on Asian Americans in the media.
Must pitch, write and edit stories for the entertainment section.
Should be able to provide own transportation to events in the Los Angeles area.
This position requires about 3-4 hours a week.
Fashion Market Editor [description and requirements]
Mochi Magazine is seeking a fashion market editor (must be based in New York or be able to travel to New York frequently) to source products for fashion shoots and cover fashion trends. The ideal candidate is obsessed with Style.com, has an eye for the latest trends, and can translate these trends to a young Asian American audience.
Requirements:
Must love fashion and spotting new trends.
Must pitch photo shoot ideas and pull clothing and accessories for shoots.
Must schedule and attend market appointments with New York City showrooms.
Prior relationships with PR and showroom contacts a plus, but not required.
This position requires about 4-5 hours a week.
Fashion Editor [description and requirements]
Mochi Magazine is seeking a fashion editor to cover trends, news, runway shows, models, fashion designers and more. The ideal candidate lives and breathes fashion news and has a pulse on relevant stories for a young Asian American audience.
Requirements:
Must love fashion and read various fashion publications and blogs.
Must pitch, write and edit stories for the fashion section.
Prior relationships with fashion PR contacts preferred, but not required.
This position requires about 3-4 hours a week.
Managing Editor [description and requirements]
Mochi Magazine is seeking a managing editor to help edit stories about entertainment, events, beauty, health, fashion and more for a young Asian American audience. This individual has a knack for line editing and knows how to construct a story, and will also be responsible for managing staff and deadlines remotely.Managing editors attend editorial meetings and are welcome to pitch and write for each issue as well.
Requirements:
Must have a sharp eye and working knowledge of English grammar and AP style.
Must work approximately 4-5 hours a week.
Must meet deadlines and be able to manage quick turnarounds.
WordPress familiarity a plus.

Marketing Representative [description and requirements]
Mochi Magazine is seeking marketing representatives to help promote launches of new issues as well as provide ongoing promotion of the website and blog. This is a great opportunity for anyone interested in a career in business – previous marketing representatives have gone on to careers at top-tier investment banks and consulting companies. Sample areas of focus include: planning and running contests, SEO strategy, event planning, company outreach, and public relations.
Requirements:
Outgoing personality and excellent communication skills
Self-motivated and able to complete projects with minimal supervision
Must be able to dedicate 4-5 hours a week
Prior experience in marketing not needed
