‘Celebrate Taiwan’ Brings the Taiwanese Experience to New York City


As part of Smithsonian magazine’s “Museum Day Live!” in New York City, the Taiwan Tourism Bureau Office transformed Grand Central Terminal’s Vanderbilt Hall into a Taiwanese arts, food, and fashion showcase. Mimicking the sights, sounds, and tastes of Taipei, “Celebrate Taiwan” opened doors for Americans to experience Taiwanese culture personally through authentic street food cuisine, aboriginal dance, calligraphy and porcelain carving work, and clothing designed with Taiwanese influences.

Eva Air and China Airlines also had booths at the event and offered deals on flights to Taiwan for potential travelers. Given everything at the event was free, lines were especially long for 16-o.z cups of Coco bubble tea and calligraphy samples/traditional painted fans. The event closed with AsianinNY’s 9th fashion show, featuring Taiwanese designers and all-Asian models.
