The Founders & Executive Board

History and Mission

Mochi was founded in 2008 to provide a community for Asian American teenage girls to access sisterly advice and gain self-esteem. Articles written by peers in high school allow girls to see how others cope with similar issues. Articles written by college women, young professionals, and other role models provide inspiration. Mochi has published 13 issues to-date: Underdog (Spring 2012), Pioneer (Fall 2011), Oops! (Summer 2011), Youth (Spring 2011), Relationships (Winter 2011), Influence (Fall 2010), Travel (Summer 2010), College (Spring 2010), Body (Winter 2010), Green (Fall 2009), Technology (Spring/Summer 2009), Winter (Winter 2009), and Premiere (Fall 2008).

You are all so awesome, giving back in this way. I found this site because I was looking up lijie, an AMAZING artist that I have been following since my days at Wellesley (just over two years), and I’m glad I discovered it. Keep up the good work!

Hi… I briefly browsed some of your articles, and I think this is a great endeavor. However, it seems there is a bias towards pop culture and tv/internet media; it’d be great to see a diverse array of articles on other topics, such as education, health, global issues, and how that affects asian american young women, or how asian american young women are making strides in these areas. (such as the article on the LinK CEO .. props for featuring her!)
